In my novel, the main character has three best friends from high school: Pinky, a petite, bossy, 9-1-1 dispatcher; Carmen, a pot-smoking, dessert-loving, masseuse-in-training; and Gail, a romantic, business professor, and wife of a prison guard. Fiction aside, I’ve been lucky to have long-lasting friendships with awesome women. I love Helen Keller’s quote: My friends have made the story of my life.
